Changes to Wizards of the Gulf Coast
After weeks and weeks of deliberating and trying to come to some form of an agreement with either our regional distributor and/or Wizards/Hasbro, WotGC has come to the following decision:
- WotGC will maintain an account with the regional distributor in order to have access to proper pre-releases and releases. Products for both types of events will be received in time to hold the events on their actual dates.
- Sales through the current distributor will be non-existent. Stock will be maintained for events that are being organized (drafts) and for prize pools.
- I, Nadim, will be taking regular orders via the specially set up forum for any extra product you wish to pre-order or generally purchase. These orders will be done in batches and all costs must be paid in full to receive the products as I will be going out on a limb here to ensure that we get enough product.
- Pre-registration for all events other than Thursdays is now a must by responding to the event posting. If the minimum requirement of players is not met, events will be cancelled within 36 hours notice via notification on this website.
- Any events without the required number of registered players will automatically become casual unsanctioned events. Players having pre-registered will receive notification of this change.
- Minimum required players to be pre-registered for events: 8 for regular Saturday events, 16 for large tournaments.
- Large tournament payouts will change. For an AED 150 entry, AED 1,500 will go to 1st place, AED 500 to 2nd place and AED 300 to 3rd & 4th places. These prize values will be provided as product prizes.
- The website is now the main point of contact. SMSes will not be used to remind people of events or event changes anymore.
- Amir will be setup as the Tournament Organizer from hereon in and will continue to run all Saturday events. This will create an additional location for M11 pre-release and release events and all future pre-releases and releases.
- Main events (Fly-To-Victory and Nationals) will be announced on the main homepage of this site 2 weeks prior to the event date.
- Extended events will now be a part of the schedule. First such date will be in April.
- Last, but not least, I, Nadim, will become the main contact for MTG events.

Kudos and great news! Also note I am still lvl 3 TO and I can sanction and run events in a pinch if needed. Without my family here I will gladly help out as much as is needed.
Sounds like a good backup plan too…
