Please make sure to be at the location at 10 SHARP to gain entry and begin the tournament. You will only need to hold a regular ticket (AED 55) to enter or a regular two day ticket (AED 100) if you want to go to both days. Loads of tickets are available at the event itself so don’t worry if you haven’t got one yet.

The event will begin with registration followed by an induction. For those of you who haven’t been to a large event before, please bring only what you will need which includes:

  • Your Standard Deck (60 cards minimum) with complete 15 card sideboard (if used)
  • Extra Sleeves for the Draft Portion – you don’t want to be de-sleeving your Standard deck
  • Paper and Pencil/Pen – Even though most players use dice or other methods of tracking score, at an event such as this it is recommended for both players to maintain life totals (and poison totals) on their own in case of any disputes. Dice can be knocked over far too easily
  • Tokens for your Standard decks – any object that can satisfactorily represent a token can be used so long as there is an obvious way to distinguish it from other tokens and it has a meaningful and easy way to signify a tapped/untapped state
  • Your DCI number – I should have most of your DCI numbers but for those that I do not, please bring them along. Players without numbers will be assigned new ones for the tournament

Additional accessories and other merchandise will be available for purchase at the tournament as well a heaps of extra boosters and Magic The Gathering product.

Please try and refrain from bringing anything excesive as it will be a very busy day and you will need to keep an eye out on all your personal items. Keep your bag close as Magic tournaments have had incidents around the globe and I would prefer that no one takes any chances.

Avacyn Returns

Just in case you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’ll know that the third set of this year’s block is called Avacyn Restored. We know that Avacyn got trapped in the Helvault in the process of vanquishing Griselbrand but we have yet to learn how Thalia opens the Helvault releasing all the demons within it including Avacyn herself.

Today, Mark Rosewater lovingly teased the first thing out of the vault, Avacyn, Angel of Hope. This legendary angel is not to be messed with. An 8 mana 8/8 with flying, vigilance and is indestructible along with every other permanent you control. Feast your eyes on the beautiful Jason Chan art on this card. Then drool some more and remember that opening an Avacyn is only a month away.

Avacyn, Angel of Hope

George’s Booster Draft Tomorrow – 9th March

Just a quick note to mention that the event on Friday 9th March will be a booster draft run by George as I will be attending the Snow Patrol concert. Please get in touch with him on 050-6004283 if you need any info regarding the event.

I’ll be back to my usual tricks next week and should be able to tease or fully announce something very exciting that will be sweeping our Magic community next month. Fingers crossed.

Dark Ascension is here…

For those of you who haven’t seen the boxes in posts on our Facebook page, the Dark Ascension boxes for our release event are here. Landmark Hotel will be the scene where we crack open those tantalizing boosters and hope to open a Sorin.

For those of you who haven’t been to Landmark before, please contact me for directions and allow for time so as not to arrive late. We will be starting promptly at 7:30. Please also do recall that the buffet is AED 30 and mandatory for those of you attending whether playing or not…

All you need is yourselves, some sleeves, some pen and paper to keep track of life totals and hopefully some silver to protect yourselves from the monstrosities that will be unleashed.
