With Dark Ascension around the corner, I’m sure a lot of you have been keeping up-to-date with the spoilers on our Facebook page (and other locations). This animated trailer teases a lot more about the evolving storyline of Dark Ascension.

All is not well on Innistrad. The horrors are taking over.

To everyone that has been coming to our events at Landmark Hotel Rigga, I do hope that you’ve been enjoying the new location. Please note that there is a minimum charge of AED 30 for anyone attending our events that goes towards the all you can eat buffet. This is extremely important as we are using a public restaurant and do not want to have any issues with the management. This charge is mandatory if you are attending the event even if you are not playing.

This week’s draft event will be postponed as the product has not yet arrived and I don’t believe it will be tomorrow. Everyone should be happy to know that we now have a much larger restock of Innistrad boosters so we should have enough stock to last until Dark Ascension.

WotGC would be remiss if we didn’t mention the recent anniversary of the United Arab Emirates. For a 40 year young country, the U.A.E. has come a long way in such a short time. Having experienced 32 of those years in person, I can only say that I’m proud to have been a small part of the bigger picture.

In thinking about National Day, I dug up the only card ever printed that is only Red, Green, White and Black (no Blue) to match the colours of the U.A.E. flag. Behold Dune-Brood Nephilim, a card whose mechanics read like they were designed for the U.A.E. specifically…

The 4 colours of the U.A.E.? Check!
Big Bad Beastie? Check!
Creating Sand Tokens? Check!!!

When I read this card, all I think about is how those Colourless Sand Tokens could so work as a recurring mechanic for any custom designed U.A.E. themed cards. Anyone care to build around this theme?

In an attempt to add more variety to our gameplay, we will attempt to change venue and try out Sul Fiume for a change of scenery. We’ve played there in the past and it turned out to be a great location for the more casual nights.

Sul Fiume is a new Italian/Lebanese style restaurant & café on Sheikh Zayed Road right next to the new Infiniti showroom. The restaurant is just before the the 3rd interchange however access by car is simplest from Sheikh Zayed Road. Travel South on Sheikh Zayed Road from the second Safa Park interchange and take the Umm Al Sheif Road exit. At the little roundabout (which is in front of NMC Medical Clinic), turn left so that you continue to travel South on the slip road. After a few hundred metres you should pass the Noor Islamic Bank Metro Station. This is the nearest station and within easy walking distance from the restaurant which you will find in the buildings just past the station. The restaurant does free valet parking which is also perfect since you may not find space readily available on the road.

With our Friday night Magic session in limbo, I thought I’d tease everyone with this Innistrad trailer.
Any help in finding a new location in time for our first Innistrad event would be extremely grateful.

For now, drool over the art in this video and get in the mood for some horror….

Despite our best efforts to make other locations our preferred location, I’m happy to announce that we’ll be returning to Fountain Restaurant & Café in Barsha behind the Mall of the Emirates. Easy to get to by public transport and by car, I’m looking forward to their great value for money food.

Please note that although we will be returning to Fountain from hereon in, I will not be holding an event next weekend due to the fact that I will be at the much anticipated performance of Beady Eye (new band name for Oasis minus Noel Gallagher) at Yas Island.

After this, we will hold at least one more M12 draft and a standard constructed event before Innistrad takes over and plunges us into horror.
